Comment by Blatter, athletes and politicians outraged the UK including David Beckham

The midfielder believes the FIFA president should resign Blatter said that "racial slurs are solved with a handshake" Apologizes but will not go because "it is incompatible with my fighting spirit"

British midfielder from Los Angeles Galaxy, David Beckham has been critical of FIFA Joseph Blatter for his "shameful" remarks made on Wednesday about the non existence of racism in football.

Comentario de Blatter, indignó a deportistas y políticos del Reino Unido entre ellos David Beckham "I think the comments are outrageous and I think many people have said that. Do not think those comments are good for this game," said Beckham.

Blatters comments referred to requirements for a football game, the clashes that occur between players solve a handshake, including racial slurs that are happening lately in the world of football.

This comment angered sportsmen and politicians in the UK, a country particularly sensitive to the issue of racism in sport and where currently two players, John Terry and Luis Suarez, are investigated for possible racial slurs.

Beckhams teammate Rio Ferdinand for England, led the list of critics to these comments via Twitter social network where, by the British Sports Minister Hugh Robertson, made a call to the Swiss president to abandon his position from 1998.

Blatter, 75, issued a statement later the same Wednesday in which he called his unfortunate comments and expressed their commitment to end racism in the sport over the next three years and a half to be in office.

"What I meant was that, as a player during a game you` fighting´ with your opponents, and sometimes do things that are wrong. But usually, at the end of the meeting, you apologize to your opponent by the bremsstrahlung during the game, you shake hands and when the party ends, everything ends, "said Blatter.

Finally, the FIFA president said he did not want to "reduce" the size of the problem of racism in society and in sport. "I am committed to fighting this scourge and get this issue out of football," he added.

Blatter will not resign

Furthermore, Blatter has apologized in an interview on the BBC, which said it has no intention of resigning from office, which has since 1998, despite requests arriving from that country, including the government of David Cameron .

"It still hurts because I could not imagine such a reaction," said the Swiss. "I can not resign, why should I? Leave would be totally unfair and inconsistent with my fighting spirit, my character and energy," said Blatter.

In the interview, Blatter admitted that his statements had caused "serious incident" and said "deep regret" a word which he called "unfortunate."

The FIFA President also said that players who utters racial slurs should be expelled and considered that the fight against racism in football must continue and these attitudes must have "zero tolerance".
